Hearing the stories of the people whose lives you have touched in ways you can’t always fathom is such a surreal experience.
At this year’s Victory Gala, everyone in attendance was graced with an inspiring speech from Courtney, a student from the Pinball Foundation Margins to Mainstream Program who is pursuing a life sciences degree and has an immense passion for growing and cultivating beautiful greenery. Courtney's story is a powerful reminder of the impact that community support and education can have on a young person's life.
Courtney detailed his journey through the Foundation, the mentorship program with the Foundation’s community partners One Voice One Team, and the career assistance provided by Whiteboard Collective. The entire audience was moved by his heartfelt words and his clear passion for what he does.
Below are some words from Courtney himself that show how the Foundation has made an impact in his life.
“Being a part of the Pinball Foundation Margins to Mainstream (M2M) Program has been a transformative journey for me. It's like they say, when you're surrounded by genuine care, your whole world shifts. This program didn't just offer me lessons; it gave me a family. Through M2M, I've learned to see life through a new lens, one that dares me to dream bigger and reach higher. It's a community where vulnerability isn't a weakness but a strength, and that's where real growth happens."
“Just thinking about the M2M bursary program brings tears of love and appreciation. It has been a space where I can just be myself and be surrounded by people who just understand. I feel so fortunate to be given the opportunity over the years to have access to a team of ambitious individuals who are truly there for you. My post-secondary journey and life's journey would be nothing without the program. The magnitude of guidance received from being in the program is beyond my wildest dreams.”
We are incredibly proud of the flourishing future that Courtney has in front of him, and we can’t wait to see where his trajectory takes him!
