This bursary has meant a lot to me. The mentorship provided by the foundation has helped me not go through life's struggles alone. They are willing to listen and support the youth in any way they can. I have appreciated having them in my life. Also, the opportunity to go to university and have it covered is a major for me. I am super grateful.

⁠Any comments you would like to share about being matched with the Black Legend that your September 2023 Bursary was named after

The story of Portia White is truly inspirational. She was the first Canadian of Arfrican descent to beccome a world renowned Opera singer even getting to sing for the Queen Elizabeth and prince William. I am inspired by how she used her gift and also had career success as a teacher of Music in Toronto.
